Kia ora tatou, bula vinaka, malo e lelei, talofa and gude,
welcome to the 2018 Ilam Cultural Groups' blog. We are looking forward to a fantastic year as we strengthen our relationship with Matua Sonny and Whaea Tui. We are also excited about the Junior School being involved in kapa haka. It will help strengthen our understanding of Maori culture, provide opportunities for children to perform and also create a great strong Senior kapa haka as the children move into the Middle and Senior School. In Pasifika we are also looking forward to working with Tinah once again and participating in the Sosomai Challenge in Term 1.
Down the side of the blog you can see links to Junior Kapa Haka, Senior Kapa Haka and Pasifika. If you click on those links it will take you to songs, waiata and videos that each group is learning. Any general messages for the groups will be placed on this home page.
We are both looking forward to working with the children in our Ilam Cultural groups and providing them with opportunities to perform during the year. When a group is performing we will advertise the timing on this blog so everybody will know about it. If you have any questions please feel free to ask either of us and we will do our best to help.
fa'afetai, malo, nga mihi nui
Shirley Haynes and Mick Withers
